A DECLARATION OF EUTOPIA

In the course of human evolution, there comes
a time when a transition to a new level of
civilisation becomes possible. Shortly thereafter,
it may also become necessary, being the only cure
for the fallout from the level before.

We believe that now is such a time.
The course of our historical development
in the West has taken us away from the limitation
and security of the old village network, with all
its dogma and prejudice, out into the exhilarating
but alienating freedom of individualism, with its
huge cost in unstable relationships and lack of the
sense of belonging.

We are now finally ready to seek real connectedness
again, but retaining the freedom of thought and
objectivity which took so long and so much
sacrifice to achieve. We have exhausted social
tribalism, and we have exhausted intellectual
individualism. Now we feel the urge to combine
the best of both of these in a new synthesis:
a kind of deeply collaborative, deeply free
networked individualism, which in its emergence
will naturally have many experimental models
and manifestations. All of them are right now
emerging through the Internet, which itself is the
greatest example of the transition which is taking
place.

We at Cafe Eutopia/Dreamspace in Kaiwaka,
New Zealand, call our particular model of the new
level which is emerging Eutopia (from the Greek
Eu-topia, A Good Place - always possible (unlike
U-topia which means ‘not a place ’ - an impossible
ideal). We offer a ‘map’ or conceptual framework
for the clear understanding and catalysing of all
process, all growth - to help any human creation
at any level. But our highest hope is that it will also
be used as a framework, catalyst and ‘algorithm’
for this new movement - a movement which
consciously builds a new level of civilisation, one
that could truly be described as Eutopian.
Our vision of this Eutopia is of a flourishing at all
levels of our being, everyone free and independent,
living in their own ‘home sector’ of Life, yet fully
related to a greater whole: a higher ‘State’ which
transcends politics - a State of interconnecting
minds, interacting wills, and interlinking hearts.
A State of free relatedness, in active, creative,
balanced, organised yet unpredictable Love,
Beauty, Truth, and Freedom.

Never before have we had such depth and breadth
of knowledge, such tools and such materials for
the creation of fantastic Eutopias; never before
have we had such man-made global threats to the
physical foundation and balance of life on Earth.
We need to work together, each in our own bliss
and personal genius, to restore the multifaceted
dynamic Balance, in ourselves and in nature.
No external force can take away the freedom of
the free spirit to will Eutopias. Externally we may
have to ‘Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s,’
but internally we can always ‘render to God what
is God’s’ - and to the spirit what is the spirit’s.
Caesars of the sword, and of the scroll, only rule
and command us because we dare not command
ourselves.

The time to command ourselves is Now. The time
to create powerfully is Now. The time for cursing
the darkness is over. We have tried that. We are
going to light a candle.
Therefore, we declare the free State of Eutopia: all
the free individuals in the world connecting freely,
consciously evolving in a balanced flow of Love,
Beauty, Truth and Freedom, and collaboratively
creating wonderful things for themselves and the
world.

Love and Freedom are more powerful than fear
and control. Loving, free and child-like humans
can create the Eutopia of all our dreams. Join the
